Diverse traditional clothing was introduced by students of TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 29 Depok, West Java, as they collaborated with Lakshya International School India
In addition to traditional clothing from various regions of Indonesia, students from Lakshya School also showcased traditional Indian clothing.
On Monday, April 21, 2025, TK Aisyiyah 29 Depok was filled with the sound of children wearing traditional clothing. There were students wearing traditional clothing from Bugis, Betawi, Dayak, Bali, Lampung, Java, Padang, Sunda, and Papua. Twenty students celebrated Kartini Day by holding an international collaboration activity with Lakshya International School India via virtual platform.
The Principal of TK Aisyiyah 29 Depok, Nashihatud Diniyah Jahro, revealed that this collaboration was the second time they had worked with Lakshya International School India. The facilitator of the activity was Mrs. Urifah from Malang, East Java. "This time, we chose traditional clothing as the theme. This is one way to introduce Indonesian culture to the world and to increase our knowledge about cultures from other countries," she explained.
The collaboration activity was attended by 40 students from TK Aisyiyah 29 Depok and Lakshya International School India. The students from TK Aisyiyah 29 Depok showcased traditional clothing from various regions, such as Bugis, Dayak, Bali, Lampung, Java, Padang, Papua, Sunda, and Betawi. "Through this activity, we learned about various traditional clothing from India. We thank Lakshya International School for collaborating with us. We hope this collaboration will continue in the future," Dini said.
Dini explained that TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 29 is one of the Early Childhood Education Institutions in Limo District, Depok, West Java. The institution is committed to producing a generation with strong faith, good morals, and intelligent minds. "This year, TK Aisyiyah 29 Depok is celebrating its 3rd anniversary. We wanted to commemorate it by holding this collaboration," she said.
Meanwhile, Hashmi, a teacher from Lakshya International School India, expressed her delight in participating in this collaboration. "Indonesia is a beautiful country with a vast territory, a large population, and diverse cultures. We are proud of your performance today," she praised.
During the activity, the students and the teachers of Lakshya International School India, Ms. Hashmi and Ms. Poulami, also introduced various traditional clothing, including Sari, Ghagra Choli, and Kurta. Sari is a traditional Indian clothing that is very famous. Ghagra Choli is an ethnic clothing for women, especially in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and other regions. Kurta is a loose-fitting tunic without a collar worn by men and women in many parts of South Asia. "I also admire Indonesia's rich culture, such as batik, Saman dance, Kecak dance, and traditional foods like satay and fried rice.
